About the Author

Lelanie Roode acquired the degrees BLC.LLB. (Hons) Criminology at the University of Pretoria Gauteng South-Africa. She was an ad hoc Law Lecturer in Family Law there. The choice to raise her four children created the opportunity to realise a dream of writing. She published Afrikaans children’s books and a novel: Poorte with Biblaridion-publishers which are unfortunately out of print already. She coached swimming for high school students in Pretoria and later in Stellenbosch her home town. Lelanie almost lost her life during the twin daughters caesarean-section born prematurely at 31 weeks with extreme blood loss. After an emergency hysterectomy and blood-transfusions she survived. The doctors not knowing thén she had a genetic heart condition. Two years later she went into heart-failure. An Arterial Septal Defect, a 2cm by 3cm hole between her heart-chambers was diagnosed leading to yet again emergency open-heart surgery while in heart failure.

After surviving two near-death experiences Lelanie knows her work on earth is not finished. Being a devoted Christian, she knows God called her to inspire others, lecturing, coaching, and writing, being a mother of four children and wife become her life. Tragedy did not leave entirely when her beloved father Carel Roode passed in September 2018 leaving another hole in her heart and world.

In 2022 she was also blindsided by her husband of 29 years betrayal. In the year of a devasting and traumatic divorce she worked on Elephant on a trapeze when Naledi found her. She decided that giving up is not an option! Her children, family, friends, strangers that became friends and Naledi-publishers surrounded her, cheering her on to keep on writing. God working miracles in her life opening windows where doors have closed. Lelanie’s logo of her swimming club was: “Go out there and fly!” Her children made her a ring of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. She has not look back yet! RISE like a phoenix, flying like a fighter plane is how she lives her life now more than ever. Being a hopeless romantic forever there are more stories to follow.

A stand-alone crime novel and the sequel or even trilogy of Elephant on the trapeze is in the making. Seize each day as one never knows when it may be your last or when tragedy or sickness will strike! Her motto:
